Burger King grilled for ’women belong in the kitchen’ tweet

Burger King’s campaign for International Women’s Day backfired as its attempt to draw attention to the male-dominated culinary world. ’Women belong in the kitchen,’ the official UK Twitter account tweeted on Monday. ’Yet only 20% of chefs are women. We’re on a mission to change the gender ratio,’ the chain said in a follow-up tweet. Outrage was swift and came from competitors including KFC.

This was very good bait to start an important dialogue about women in the culinary world. People are nothing but reactionary.

The lack of woman chefs is probably because those strong independent women fought so long and hard to get OUT of the kitchen... are they now trying to get back in? Typical. Make up your minds! /s... Also, my wife WANTS to be in the kitchen and will tell anyone that it is a woman's place. "Any good wife wants to cook for her man, just like any good man wants to support his wife and family". I told her about the tweet and she responded with applause. I love her.

Isn't Burger "King" offensive to wokesters? Why does it have to be a male king? It should be neutral.... Burger Royalty. And the GEICO gecko. Why a male voice? And Australian, is that an actual Australian doing the voice over work? Has that person ever said anything in their life that might possibly be deemed slightly offensive to some lone person in this world? Better get woke!

That has to be the greatest advertising I've seen to date 😂😂😂

Outrage farming is the new advertising meta. BK knows how to meme apparently.

Well... Those pesky gender roles... Inequality is a real challenge... Mostly for those who have no idea how to turn themselves in order not to be offended..

Humorless idiots. BK shouldn't have apologised. If someone had said women belong in the fire service, army or in construction work there wouldn't have been any backlash. They would have been praised for it. Instead just ignore the positive intent and get hung up on the clever use of ambiguity to draw attention to their commitment to doing what you want. I don't have the words to express how dumb I think those complaining must be.

People make their own choices. Stop trying to control our work choices. Jebus Krishna. Make your fatburgers and stfu. We decide how our labor is utilized. Period.

Only the low information feelings people were outraged by this. Anyone paying attention to BK's marketing history were not surprised and possibly amused.

In later news: Dairy Queen reportedly condones pedophilia as apart of being "woke." Pretty sure this doesn't qualify as Noblesse Oblige. They could learn a thing or two from the royal... family... oh, wait... Burger King was pretty much asking for it with this one... Come on, how many people even reviewed that tweet? KFC could use this as a chance to advertise a new slogan, "Colonel has common Sense!"

Why do Republicans hate the free market so much? The concept of "cancel culture" is the Republican way of complaining about capitalism and the free market in disguise. The truth is they HATE the free market unless it's working in their favor.

Isn't outraging over issues like this only showing how these people really think about women? Like if you are upset over a burger joint that uses a kitchen as it's way of making profit. You figure this would make more sense.

You know, I always wondered why the stereotype of "women in the kitchen" wasn't real, but treated as some sort of slur, especially in the service industry. Before my current career, I was a chef for 9 years, and everywhere I worked, even abroad, it was mostly men in the kitchen.

Lol. Try to be all fake woke and then be destroyed by the idiots asses you were trying to kiss.

Well they were trying to use HUMOR which as some point in the last 10 years has been outlawed. They were making a point, a male dominated culinary world. If it were engineering or architecture there would be no problem. My personal opinion, men do cook better than most women. While women can cook more things at once, men are more inventive, on the average better at critical thinking. There are exceptions, to everything. People are WAY too sensitive, and need to chill out and learn to laugh again.

They literally have a Twitter thread that explains that 20% of chefs are women in the uk. And after apologized for the tweet.

Women don't belong in the kitchen, male chefs are still better than female chefs. Women belong in the bedroom.
