COVID-19 variant overruns provincial Italian hospital

No more room is available for patients in the 160-bed hospital in the Po River Valley town of Chiari. Hospitals in the northern Brescia province of Italy have been put on high alert due to the highly contagious variant of COVID-19 which was first identified in Britain. 90 percent of hospital beds in the province have been filled due to the surge of the UK variant in the region.
