The UN security council strongly condemned the violence against peaceful anti-coup protesters and called upon the military junta to restore the democratically elected civilian government in the country. US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the current UNSC president, announced that all 15 council members, including Myanmar’s neighbor and friend China, agreed with her UK-drafted statement.
