Mexico Congress’s lower house passes bill to legalize marijuana

Mexico’s lower house of Congress passed a bill to legalize recreational marijuana. The bill was passed by a vote of 316 to 127. It now goes to Senate, where it is almost certain to pass. Once it becomes a law, it will clear the way for a regulated marijuana market, which could be the largest in the world. This could also bring down the incentive of the violent drug cartels that operate in Mexico.

This is a BIG step in the right direction. Cannabis has never harmed anyone. Only the laws regarding it has greatly.

Good. The best way to beat the cartels isn’t to arrest as many as possible because there will always be more. The best way is to legalize the safer drugs (ie psychadelics), and decriminalize the rest. That way, people can get the safer stuff legally and not give money to the cartels, and those who struggle with addiction to harder stuff (ie pills) can seek treatment instead of being sent to prison, in turn reducing buyers. Better drug education and testing is crucial too. But don’t get me wrong, America needs to adopt these ideals too in order to successfully take down the cartel. As long as our country has a demand, someone will always be there to fill that supply

Wow it's only taken them 90 years to figure out that making drugs legal to use will prevent violence from the illegal drug cartels.

Honestly I don't give a fuck about this being some revolutionary step or something, what's important here is that this will hopefully help Mexico as a country and Work against the influence of cartels.

So no more dirt weed or seedy smush pot? How about some bug spray ridden or some moldy weed? No telling how much of that has come across the border. Marijuana does cause some long term side effects. If I remembered I would share them. I gotta find something to eat.✌

Ever wonder why they haven't done this long ago? However until at least our southern border states can at least smarten up to this level the cartels will still have stranglehold on the Mexican legal system. Cartels arent getting fat from Mexican cash.

It was legalized in Canada over 2 years ago and it hasn't caused any significant problems.
