Thailand joins countries to suspend AstraZeneca vaccine over blood clot fears

Thailand has joined the list of countries to delay use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine following reports of blood clots. Eight countries in Europe have suspended the use of the shot: Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. AstraZeneca said the vaccine has been studied extensively and peer-reviewed data confirms the shot is ’generally well tolerated.’

Very weird. This has been used extensively in the UK with no excessive reports of clots. The European version does come from a hastily set up factory and they did have issues getting the UK protocols to work properly. Here's hoping it's just a dodgy batch but the number of concurrent issues required to get something like this to manifest in the end product is great. My cynical self is gonna guess that engineers, technicians and biomedical scientists told the EU it wasn't ready for prime time and they said to throw the switch anyway. Probably because their vaccine rollout was such a disaster. Now they are likely going to throw the blame at the UK. It'll be interesting to see where it goes. Maybe they just took our joke line in the protocol too seriously.... We didn't really mean to temper the vaccine over burning witches and add eye of newt to taste.
