Scientists want to send 6.7 million sperm and egg samples to the moon

Scientists from the University of Arizona have proposed establishing a lunar gene bank that could house a repository of reproductive cells, sperm and egg samples from 6.7M of Earth’s species, including humans. The proposed bank is seen as a ’modern global insurance policy’ in the event of a global disaster. The proposed repository, or so-called ’ark,’ could be created beneath the moon’s floor.
