Dangerous winter storm hits western US, highways and airports closed

A powerful late winter storm battered the central Rocky Mountains on Sunday bringing in heavy snow. The storm shut down Denver’s airport, and forced the closure of major highways leaving many motorists stranded. The National Guard has been pressed to rescue services. Authorities have issued avalanche warnings in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska and told residents to brace up for power outages.
