A judge has struck down a state directive that encourages local election clerks to be very flexible when reviewing signatures on absentee ballots. The judge ruled invalid Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s guidance issued early October that instructed clerks to presume the accuracy of absentee ballot signatures. ’The presumption is found nowhere in state law,’ wrote the judge.
Too late but at least it's finally on the books. It's amazing what happens when a court case is actually ruled based on the merits instead of being tossed out for procedural garbage.
