Severe weather, dangerous tornadoes expected in the Southeast

Forecasters warned of severe weather including massive tornadoes, downpours and hail the size of tennis balls across the Deep South, prompting the closure of hundreds of schools, COVID-19 vaccination clinics, and businesses. The Storm Prediction Center said that as many as 16 million people in the Southeast could see powerful storms. Tornado warnings were issued in Texas, Mississippi and Alabama.
