Facebook plans to build a kid-friendly Instagram

Facebook is developing a new version of Instagram aimed at kids under the age of 13. The new offering was announced internally to Facebook employees Thursday. For now, to use Instagram, users need to be over 13 years old. Additionally, for teen safety, the company rolled out an AI-based feature earlier this week that stops adult strangers from DMing kids.
