Man tries to kill and dismember gay man, charged with federal hate crime
Chance Joseph Seneca, a 19-year-old man from Lafayette, Louisiana has been charged with federal hate crime and kidnapping. Prosecutors said Seneca used social media and a dating app to lure three men and tried to kill and dismember one of them after kidnapping them. In a statement, the Department of Justice said Seneca intended to keep parts of a victim’s body as ’mementos, trophies and food.’

I don't think its a hate crime I think its just a crime. Why would it matter if he didn't like the sexual preferences of the person he wanted to murder and eat? Does that make it worse? Well the murder and cannibalism are one thing, but the homophobia is just unacceptable!

He 'tried to kill and dismember'.. so did he succeed at either? Are the men dead? Or are they still alive? Are their limbs still attached? Headline is weak.
If the victims were asian there would be nonstop coverage, simultaneously trying to blame Trump somehow, and essentially ignoring they were gay.
