Long dormant volcano erupts in southwestern Iceland

After weeks of seismic activity including thousands of small earthquakes, a long-dormant volcano in southwestern Iceland erupted on Friday. The Fagradals Mountain volcano is on the Reykjanes Peninsula, 40km from Iceland’s capital Reykjavik. The Krysuvik volcanic system has been inactive for the past 900 years. A red cloud lit up the night sky as a no-fly zone was established in the area.

we have seen a real uptick in vulcanism over the past couple of years. this is due to grand solar minimum. the suns waning magnetosphere causes earth magnetosphere to get weaker, allowing galactic cosmic rays to excite nuons in the earths crust causing volcanism. among many other things.
