US Defense Secretary on Afghanistan visit
Lloyd Austin arrived in Afghanistan on his first trip as the Secretary of Defense amid questions about how long US troops will remain in the country. He is expected to meet with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul. The move comes amid a statement by President Joe Biden wherein he said that it will be ’tough’ for the U.S. to meet a May 1 deadline to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
