Myanmar frees detained BBC journalist as protests continue

A BBC journalist who was detained during the ongoing military crackdown in Myanmar has been freed. Aung Thur, a BBC Burmese service reporter was taken away by men in plainclothes on 19 March while reporting outside a court in the capital, Nay Pyi Taw, the corporation said. Forty journalists have been arrested since the civilian government was overthrown in a military coup on 1 February.
