Miami Beach extends curfew, emergency powers to control spring break crowds

Miami Beach officials voted on Sunday to extend an 8 pm curfew and emergency powers for up to three weeks to help control unruly and mostly maskless crowds, days after thousands of people packed the city’s Art Deco Cultural District causing bedlam. Some businesses voluntarily closed out of concern for public safety. Officials also restricted traffic connecting the city with downtown Miami.

It's not surprising that there are larger crowds this year for Spring break. People have been isolated for a year, and the vaccine rollout is quickly signifying a return to normality for these people. But as soon as they catch a breath of freedom, some of the revelers ruin the fun for everyone with unruly behaviour..

Did I miss something and this virus only comes out at night? Cerfews in most places just seem to insure that people like me who work nights will now go to the store during the day when it's more crowded that at 2 or 3 in the morning when it's virtually empty. They make absolutely no sense.

Why do people even WANT to crowd around each other? Why is that even a thing people want to do after learning about germs in elementary school. I kinda noticed that I was getting sick after birthday parties. Are anti maskers also anti condom? Are people going to assert that condoms are an infringement on their rights? Why is covid a thing people are trying to argue they have a right to spread?

Hey look, a large uncontrollable crowed is raring apart a city. I wonder where all the outrage is from Republicans? That’s right, if you were outraged about the BLM riots but don’t care about this or (for example) when a sports city riots after a championship, you just might be a racist

Why can’t the people who are scared to live life just stay indoors and let the normal people do normal activities?

No more parties in party city. At one time, Miami wanted to be the place for Spring Break. Now, they don't like it.
