Senate confirms Dr Vivek Murthy to be surgeon general

The Senate has voted 57–43 to confirm Dr Vivek Murthy to be the US surgeon general. Murthy was the surgeon general in the administration of President Barack Obama as well. When Donald Trump became the president, Murthy was asked to resign. However, he refused and was fired, his wife, Alice Chen, had said then. Murthy will assume office at a time when the country is battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
