New banknote celebrating WWII code breaker Turing unveiled by Bank of England

The Bank of England unveiled the design of a new banknote which celebrates mathematician Alan Turing. Turing was responsible for helping Britain win World War II with his code-breaking skills. The new £50 features Turing, technical drawings for the machines used to decipher the Enigma code, and mathematical formulae from a 1936 paper he wrote that laid the groundwork for modern computer science.

Good to hear. He was one of the grat minds of WWII and deserves this post-humous recognition. He directly saved many lives by breaking the enigma code, and indirectly saved countless more with his research in computer science, off the back of which most of our medical advances have leapfrogged. The west wouldn't be the powerhouse it is today, without his contributions. His name deserves to be uttered alongside the likes of pythagoras and galileo. Despite being a bit gay 🤣

Far too little, far too late. It borders on actually being disrespectful.
