Biden invites 40 world leaders to summit on climate crisis
US President Biden has invited 40 world leaders to a virtual summit on the climate crisis. The leaders invited include Xi Jinping of China and Russia’s Vladimir Putin. The start of the summit on 22 April coincides with Earth Day, and it will come ahead of a major UN meeting on the crisis, scheduled for November.
C’mon, man, here’s the deal. Biden’s going to get tough on those bad guys and start putting America’s interests first. Oh, wait ... no, never mind. He’s not. He’s going to do the usual unproductive time-wasting political games. And his base will call him a hero for it!
Perhaps they could be introduced to the rest of the free world and not be so at odds with it. Would do a world of good both ways.

This should be worth a laugh, America agrees to boat loads of restrictions as do China and Russia. Then America destroys its own industries trying to live up to them while Russia and China laugh as those industries flee to them pricisly because wont enact those restrictions.

He is inviting them to meet with Kamala. Joe obviously can't think in his own. If Peter Doocy is too much for him to handle, how will he deal with Putin and Xi?

I would be surprised if anything comes from this. At best we’ll get some legislation that looks nice, but is ultimately meaningless.
The only way to coherce China and Russia into positive behavior is to do it together with our like minded allies...
Biden already proved he wouldn't dare have a conversation with Putin, and Xi has no interest in having Westerners tell him to clean up his country. Also, got to love the statement of how the US has been doing this since Bush Jr, yet climate is still an existential crisis, without any sense of irony as to how pointless these talks must be.
