Early universe explosion reveals elusive ’Goldilocks’ black hole

Scientists have discovered a new intermediate black hole that could be an ancient relic created before the first stars and galaxies formed. Approximately 55,000 times the mass of the sun, researchers say this black hole may be the ’seed’ of the supermassive black holes which exist today. The so-called ’Goldilocks’ black hole is part of a missing link between the small and supermassive black holes.
