China approves new Hong Kong election law, cuts elected seats in legislature

China’s Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress approved amendments to Hong Kong’s constitution that is designed to give Beijing more control over the former UK colony’s legislature. The new law reduces the number of directly elected seats in Hong Kong’s legislature. The changes are seen as Beijing’s attempt to keep pro-democracy politicians from having a say in Hong Kong’s affairs.

Big surprise. They approved the law their own hacks wrote, thus breaking their international agreement to preserve Hong Kong autonomy for 50 years after the turn over. Does anyone in the UN care?

Don't forget the brave ones young and old who stood against this totalitarian regime for years, exposing them to the test of the world sooner, many are in jail or have to leave the place they call home. They have done all they can and it's up to the rest of the world to help them return to the freedom and rights they had.
