Palau’s president ignores Chinese pressure, visits Taiwan

President Surangel Whipps of the tiny Pacific island nation of Palau defied Chinese pressure and visited Taiwan in a show of solidarity. During a meeting with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen, Whipps said he and his team ’feel like home when we are here.’ Beijing has banned its citizens from visiting Palau. In response, Taiwan introduced a quarantine-less ’travel bubble’ between the two countries.

Bravo that a small country which depended so much on tourism especially from China have the guts to stand up to them. Most others too easily kowtowing to the money they get from China which should go to their own poor people.

Heres a kicker that didn't seem to pop up anywhere else: the US ambassador to Palau actually traveled with them to Taiwan. First US ambassador to go there since 1979. https://thediplomat.com/2021/04/us-ambassador-makes-first-visit-to-taiwan-in-more-than-40-years/ Surprised it didn't make China all pissy.

Taiwan is the last non commie outpost. Global trade is currently under threat from commiekazes. They seem to have their own order of the day as they please.
