Google collects 20 times more data than Apple on their devices, report says

Researchers from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, carried out a study by comparing the user data collected by a Pixel phone and iPhone. They concluded that Google collects 20 times more data than Apple. The researchers also found that even when ’minimally configured,’ the Pixel and iPhone shared data quite frequently. Google responded by saying the methodology used in the study was faulty.

The quantity of data is not the only thing to be concerned about. Much privacy compromising data can be sent in iOS’s 52kB. While Android’s 1MB is probably much worse, it would be interesting what exactly is in all that additional data? Also much of the data sent cannot be analyzed as it is encrypted.

The difference is that I can mitigate that on android. I'm not so sure you can with apple. Also none of this matters when you turn around and log into Facebook, Instagram, or one of the other data hogs out there.

Andrew yang would of solved this. Ppl could of be making money of of selling their own data if they had the option to sell or not. Believe it or not that was one of Andrew yangs bug policies.

Not surprised. It’s interesting how the thought of your data being sold is starting to become normalized.
