Microsoft wins US Army contract worth up to $22 billion

Microsoft has scored a $22 billion worth government contract to produce augmented reality devices for the US Army. The Army said it had awarded Microsoft a contract to produce augmented reality systems based on its HoloLens 2 device called Integrated Visual Augmented Systems (IVAS). The devices are designed to help soldiers, ’fight, rehearse and train using a single platform.’

Crony Joe's administration back to business as usual.🤦🏽‍♂️ Man I miss having a competent administration that worked to secure deals that were good for Americans not for some company that greased up an old man for 30 years.

Anybody still gonna claim the US is a capitalist economy? Hundreds of billions of dollars spent from the US government to corporations like Microsoft and Google. And don't forget the hundreds of billions given to Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Raytheon.

I think this is another system that will fail miserably. If I'm in a firefight, I don't want anything at all impeding my senses, least of all a silly hololens style VR headset. If I want extra data, I want to see it if I need it. There's this continual push to use more and more electronics in combat gear. That's fine in aircraft, warships etc. But on the ground in a FOB, you can't rely on electronics. You've got to cart batteries around for this stuff AND have to train without it anyway for when it fails. This stuff has been tried before. Land Warrior. The OICW. Absolutely keep it in R&D but if I was a combat soldier, the idea of this stuff would fill me with terror.

Your in the middle of a fire fight then a random paperclip floats into view blocking your vision. Hi I see your trying to aim do you need a hand with that.

Didn't the Army ever use Windows 95? If it did, you would think it would not trust Microsoft.
