Oklahoma asks court to reconsider overturning murder conviction

To preserve state jurisdiction over crimes involving Native Americans on reservations, the Oklahoma AG asked the state’s highest criminal court to rethink its ruling overturning a non-tribal man’s murder conviction and death sentence over jurisdictional issues. On March 11, an Oklahoma appeals court overturned the conviction and sentence saying the state had no concurrent jurisdiction in the case.
