Inmates stage uprising at St. Louis jail over extended pre-trial detention

Inmates at the City Justice Center in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, broke into a small riot Sunday night. This is the second such incident in the jail this year. Some inmates were seen hanging outside of the broken windows of their cells chanting, ’We want court dates!’ as many have been held more than a year awaiting trial as the pandemic has greatly slowed the court system.
