Half of Republicans polled believe Jan 6 Capitol protest largely non-violent

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll has found that about half of Republicans believe the Jan. 6 protests at the Capitol was largely a non-violent protest or was the handiwork of left-wing activists ’trying to make Trump look bad.’ Six in 10 Republicans polled also believe Trump’s claims about the widespread voter fraud in the presidential election. 1,005 adults were polled between March 30-31.

It was NOT an insurrection. And was as peaceful as some of the thug lives matter "protests" we saw in minneapolis and portland (among other places) last year.

Like the False account if a police officer beaten to death with a fire extinguisher? How many leftists still believe that fiction? No video has surfaced showing people holding fire extinguishers, or people being attacked with them. Sicknick initially text-messaged his brother in the night after the storming of the Capitol, reporting that he had been twice attacked with pepper spray and was "in good shape". Shortly before 10 p.m., however, Sicknick collapsed after he had returned to his division office, within the Capitol. Sicknick was taken to a hospital in the D.C. area, and his condition apparently deteriorated. He suffered a stroke and a blood clot, and was surviving on a ventilator.[3][8] Premature reports of his death spread among law enforcement circles, which led to confusion among journalists and Sicknick's family until Capitol Police published a statement confirming that none of its officers had died. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Sicknick

Oh, NOW they take issue with "mostly peaceful/largely non violent". I see how it works now. (jk, I've always known how it's worked)

If BLM riots were "mostly peaceful" so was this, funny how the 1984 crowd that claim month long riots resulting in 40 murders, 900 officer casualties and hundreds of billions in property damage were mostly peaceful now claim one officers death (that wasn't even related to the events) warrants a violent insurrection. Reminder, these are the people who have literally had headlines like "fiery but mostly peaceful" for the last year. There was quite clearly fraud, y'all went from claiming "there was no fraud" to "okay, bit it wasn't widespread" to "okay, it was widespread but didn't change the outcome" 🤦

Honestly, by protest standards and precedent the Jan 6 event was pretty tame. It was, however, a good example of different treatment of protestors, as I generally haven't seen police responding to climbing and littering with gunfire at any other protest in recent times.

They're not entirely wrong. Yeah it was primarily fringe Trump supporters, but there were left wingers there too, like the one dude CNN interviewed who claimed to be documenting the violence but who was arrested the day after because footage showed him actively encouraging the violence instead.

How many people attended the protest and how long did the protest continue peacefully How many people were involved in actively trying to force entry to capitol. How many people engaged in assault to enter the capitol and when inside It was largely peaceful and then became violent due to a fringe element, which then encouraged opportunists. Who wouldn't enjoy the opportunity to walk into the capitol where they can't usually go?

All leftist sheep believe the cop was killed by a fire extinguisher. Still no release of who shot and killed an unarmed WHITE WOMAN but cops kill a career criminal that's black the screeching and violence never ends

And I see the MSM is busy gaslighting the peasantry once again. “Comrade! Are you going to believe your lying eyes and your lying ears or are you going to believe the “minestry of truth” that loves you more then your own parents!”

We are talking about people that fell for the rantings of a con man 4yrs ago so to state their gullibility is kinda obvious dont cha think? I mean look at all the cover ups throughout his presidency backed by the same people. These people accept the fact that their leader is a pathological liar and even embrace it as one of his strengths. Bwahaahaaa, only in America.

It was certainly less violent than the recent attack on the Capitol by the Nation of Islam follower. He actually killed someone. No rioter at the Capitol was arrested on gun charges, and they killed nobody. Indeed one of them was shot dead by a cop, but nobody cares. If the BLM and Antifa riots during all of 2020 were "mostly peaceful" or "just an idea" then Jan 6 barely merits a mention at all.

It was largely peaceful if the comparison is the summer riots, err "mostly peaceful protests." The DC protest had less than half the violence of any of the summer BLM n Antifa protests, so that is not a false belief by Conservatives, but nice try.

No cop was killed, 2 guys were charged for spraying pepper spray, only violent death was by a cop shooting a woman. What is the violence. Pushing and shoving? Who has false beliefs about that day? https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-capitol-arrests-idUSKBN2B7213 Two charged for pepper-spraying police officer who died after assault on U.S. Capitol Office told his family he was fine, then much later had a blood clot and a stroke. They say Sicknick had texted them Wednesday night to say that while he had been pepper-sprayed, he was in good spirits. https://www.propublica.org/article/officer-brian-sicknick-capitol

I love how these comments are talking about how long the protest went before being violent is the standard of a peaceful protest and a violent one. I wonder if they used that logic with BLM peaceful protests. I highly doubt it.

What if they're right? It's certainly something the radical left would do. I can't say that they're not above such a thing. My take is that we're in a divided America, and both sides are convinced that the other side wishes their demise. Take all you heard about Trump. There are many people that would say the exact same thing about those in power now. Jan 6 was just the first spark. We're seeing more of them every day. I don't want to be around when one of these sparks sets something off.
