Volkswagen to stop making the Beetle

Volkswagen said on Thursday it would stop producing its Beetle compact car in 2019. The Beetle was introduced in Germany in 1938 during the Nazi era and came to the US 11 years later, where it became a symbol of utilitarian transportation often used by hippies. The iconic car sold for about 30 years before US sales were discontinued in 1979.

This is a concerning trend. There are rumors that even Mini will be getting rid of their design. "It's our biggest mini yet!" Out of touch marketing.
