Harvey Weinstein appeals against rape convictions, blames ’cavalier’ judge

Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer convicted of several counts of rape and sexual assault, has appealed against his convictions. Weinstein claimed that the New York judge, who convicted him in 2020, denied him an impartial jury. Weinstein’s lawyers wrote: ’The trial court was cavalier in its obligation to safeguard this right and the consequences for Mr Weinstein were disastrous.’
