Democrat Kyrsten Sinema defends filibuster, urges not to change it

Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) defended the filibuster and said the solution for the ’broken’ Senate doesn’t lie in eroding the rules. Talking to WSJ, Sinema said, ’When you have a place that’s broken and not working, and many would say that’s the Senate today, I don’t think the solution is to erode the rules.’ Sinema is the second Democrat after Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va) to have said this.

Just like Harry Ried was warned not to change confirmation rules you won't stay in power forever. Also watch Joe Biden 15 min speech for why the filibuster is so important under Bush 2.

Funny how the filibuster wasn't evil and racist when it was used at record rates in the last 4 years.

I think the best bipartisan solution to the issues surrounding is actually very simple while also being effective. There is one (or two, actually) very common things amongst all senators, be it Kyrsten or Manchin or Mcconnell and that thing is nipples. Forget water or bathroom breaks. We need to go Draconian here. If you want to filibuster any bill, you get wires connected, tastefully of course, to your nipples and the current will be controlled by a person guaranteed to have no care either way to ensure fairness. This solution could actually work for almost any problem in Congress.

From what I understand is that the Filibuster is only used by the losing party to stop the winning party from passing any legislation. So, no matter which party is in control, the other side can stop them. So nothing gets done. All they have to do is say "I'm going to filibuster that" and that's the end of that. They don't even have to do it... Just say it.

Why is she against the original format of the filibuster? The talking filibuster is what's being proposed. Nothing wrong with that...
