US considers boycott of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics over rights abuse
The US State Department said it will consider boycotting the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics over alleged human rights abuses in China. Lawmakers and advocacy groups had been urging the US to boycott the event because of China’s persecution of Uighurs in Xinjiang and clampdown on Hong Kong’s pro-democracy activists. The State Department said it would ’certainly wish to discuss this with our allies.’
'Considers'? Are they putting this out there to see how it polls first? When will this administration show a shred of leadership instead of following the political winds?
I think it would be better to compete and keep them off the podium. Boycotting would mostly hurt US Olympians who don't get many chances in their career to fulfill their dream. Kicking China's a** on the other hand would embarrass Winnie. Losing face is a big deal with those guys.
Over the possibility that the lab leak was intentional?
Replace the term boycott with fund and you've got a reality. China owns Bully Byethen anyway.
Maybe he had transgender plans on his mind? Change the rules on gender globally? The entire US sports program is a farce with this administration anyway.
