Scientists use ’bionic mushrooms’ to generate electricity

An ordinary mushroom has been turned into an electricity generator in a process scientists hope will one day be used to power devices. The ’bionic mushroom’ was covered with bacteria capable of producing electricity and light was used to instigate the bacterial photosynthesis. The team from New Jersey’s Stevens Institute of Technology hope the discovery can lead to useful power generation.
