Data shows number of unaccompanied migrant children in CBP custody fell by 45%

The latest US government data showed that the number of unaccompanied children in Customs and Border Protection custody has come down from a peak of 5,767 on March 28 to 3,130 on Sunday – a drop of 45%. This is seen as a result of President Joe Biden’s administration efforts to accommodate the minors within facilities managed by HHS rather than DHS.

So according to the links the 45% "drop" is simply a shuffle between which government department is currently in charge. The actual number of minors hasn't dropped - in fact it has increased.

No longer in custody means they've bussed them to other locations just like Obama did. The people weren't sent back to Mexico or flown to their home country.

If Trump hadn't created the situation that led a judge to prevent the abandoning of unaccompanied children this problem wouldn't exist. Unfortunately there is now an incentive to ensure the life they want for their children by sending them in unaccompanied. I wonder why the number of unaccompanied kids is up? 🤔 Doh!
