George Floyd’s friend has right to invoke Fifth Amendment, judge rules

In the murder trial of ex-cop Derek Chauvin, Hennepin County District Judge Peter Cahill ruled that George Floyd’s friend Morries Hall, who was in the SUV with Floyd during his fatal arrest, may choose not to testify by invoking the Fifth Amendment. This is a blow to Chauvin’s lawyers, who wanted to call Hall to explain the comments he made to investigators that Floyd fell asleep in the car.
