Volcanic eruptions triggers fears of humanitarian crisis in St Vincent

The eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano in the Caribbean nation of St Vincent has displaced 20% of the island’s population. The eruptions, which started Friday, covered the lush green island with ash, which has also affected Barbados and other nearby islands. Didier Trebucq, UN coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, warned of a growing humanitarian crisis that may last for months.
