30,000 Los Angeles teachers go on strike over pay

Some 480,000 children were affected Monday as 30,000 Los Angeles teachers went on strike for the first time in 30 years, demanding a pay raise. The teachers are demanding the state raise their pay by 6.5 per cent immediately. Governor Gavin Newsom urged both the union and the school district to make a deal to prevent ’disrupting the lives of too many kids and their families’.

What did they expect with open borders and sanctuary cities? The reason I left CA was to get a better education for my kid. Stay red Texas. Please stay red.

I will help. By homeschooling my children. Hate the public school system.

its funny if we actually had a good schooling system most of them would be without jobs.

Am I the only one who thinks physical schools should be things of the past. Over 85% of things taught in school is either not something you need to know, slanted in a particular direction, or something you aren't going to remember long enough to matter. Second of all one could probably learn more from a internet based school with more focuses towards actually learning and not pointless and irrational social conditioning. People won't have to wake up early to go to school and they learn at their own pace with a focus on their interests for optimized learning. If a few hours of looking for something can find interesting ads of things I want surely finding a compatible job and career path can be made easier. It would make it easier to focus on social programs for communites that need it instead of funding schools and supplies that go to waste when people already have better equipment at home. I am sure that 8 out of ten people in the us have smartphones. Basic tablets can teach most of the school curriculum up to middle school. Am I the only one that thinks that education has stagnated as has teaching. Let's be real schools are more daycare than education facilities.

The per-pupil dollar amount in California is enough to send every kid to a good private school. We need to evaluate how the money is spent before forking over more.

They could just raise taxes some more. Surely everyone in LA would be willing to fork over more tax money for their children's education. Raising property taxes sounds like a good start. The businesses will not mind at all. That should be a simple and quick solution in such a left leaning and progressive area. 🙄

Fire them all and have the kids study online, or don't, anything is better than having them learn the excuse for a curriculum, not to mention the Secondary curriculum that is obedience to these leftist freaks.

18% of 4th graders can read at a 4th grade level yet the teachers are demanding more money??? How bout you make it where 25% of 4th graders are reading at a 5th grade level then ask for a raise. What happened to doing a good job.
