Israeli student murdered in Australia while on phone with sister

An Israeli woman was killed Wednesday in the Australian city of Melbourne close to the university where she was studying. Aiia Maasarwe, 21, had been on the telephone to her sister when she was followed from public transport and attacked near La Trobe University’s Bundoora campus. Authorities said they believed ’this was a random attack and opportunistic’.

We have fuckwits in Melbourne just like other parts of the world. I don't walk around by myself around midnight because I know even I'm not safe from fuckwits. I have made a few druken treks from the pub/nightclub on my own early 2000's and today I do look back and think about the few occasions I passed people that could have attacked me because I was ignorant and drunk. Maybe she thought if she had FaceTime with her sister she would be safer?

Whether it was racially motivated or not, it still is a sad tragedy.
