DOJ asks Supreme Court to speed census citizenship case

The Department of Justice signaled on Tuesday that it plans to ask the Supreme Court to take up the census case on an expedited basis. The fact that the census needs to be printed in a timely fashion might push the high court to agree to hear the case sometime this term. On January 15, a court ruled that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross’ decision to add a citizenship question was unlawful.
