US, China ’miles and miles’ from trade deal, says Ross

US markets were spooked Thursday after Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said that the US and China are ’miles and miles’ from resolving trade issues. His comments came ahead of a 30-member Chinese delegation planning to visit Washington next week to attempt resolving the ongoing trade disputes. Ross said the two sides were unlikely to resolve all their disputes in next week’s talks.

Good! No progress is in our long-term interests. If anything we should ratchet up the pressure. China's entire economic model is based on protectionism and exports to the US market. Start making free trade agreements, no strings, with their regional rivals.
