Deadly California fire caused by private equipment, not PG&E

Investigators said Thursday that a 2017 wildfire that killed 22 people in Northern California was caused by a private electrical system, not equipment belonging to PG&E. PG&E is facing up to $30 billion in potential liability over its role in recent California wildfires and had earlier this month said it plans to file for bankruptcy protection. PG&E shares surged Thursday following the news.
