Thousands of children in Europe to skip classes and rally against climate change

Children plan to stage a sit-in outside city hall in Basel, Switzerland, and similar protests are planned in Berlin and other German cities. They are inspired by 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. She is in Davos, urging the World Economic Forum (WEF) to ensure a greener future. On Thursday, 35,000 teenagers marched in Brussels against global warming.

Want a "greener" future? Stop your consumerist lifestyle. Go have a homestead. Give up your appliances that give you comfort. Most of these kids won't be able to do anything that doesn't involve pressing a button and letting the machine do the work for them. And oh, to really ensure the world is going to be green. Stop having babies! But these little brainwashed munchkins just don't get it. I'd much rather they encourage people to fight against different forms of pollution. Encourage people to start learning to repair simple stuff instead of throwing things away. What exactly can you do to stop the climate from changing, I'd like to know.

Wish I could skip work to "protest climate change" (play Resident Evil 2 on PS4)

I remember when I was in school. I’d use any excuse to take a day off school. It’s also silly to think they actually understand this very complex issue to have a valid opinion.

Everyone of them probably update every six months to the latest iPhone without thought to where the materials for those devices come terms they'll understand...."Like, totes clueless"

Poor Euros. During my trip to meet family in Austria and Switzerland I was surprised by how much global warming propaganda is fed to their kids. And we think American schools brainwash! Children aren't taught to think outside the leftist Overton window and so global warming is the only really "acceptable" hill for their generation to die on. So many neutered busybodies.

Reduce your own carbon emissions to zero instead of bitching about how the government needs to fight global warming.

You're all wrong, the problem is asian population is too consequent and despite other nations best efforts unless asia changes its ways pollution will continue to proliferate at a lethal rate.

Here in Germany they did it last week. And because they also did it during school hours on some schools they have now to do homework what they personally will do to improve the environment.

Why are they smiling in the picture? Mass extinction being imminent and all.

Maybe if these kids went to school and got proper educations they would be able to help the crisis instead of complaining about it.

maybe if they went to school instead of a protest, they could learn how to become inventive entrepreneurs and come up with a solution...

Right, how dare the kids expect a planet on which to live! Disrespectful, entitled brats anyway! Way to be, adults(?)!

How about go to school, learn something useful like engineering, physics or materials science, graduate and invent or improve something to reduce pollution instead of wasting paper and everyone's time protesting the weather. Smh

71% of emissions are created by 100 companies. If you say individuals can solve the problem you don't know anything about it. There are some problems that can only be solved by the actions of a central government.

too bad no one taught them the real climate science at school
