Facebook paid people to gather data on usage habits

A new reports suggests that Facebook secretly paid volunteers to install a ’Facebook Research’ app on their phones to monitor their usage. The company reportedly pays users up to $20 a month plus referral fees to install the app. Once installed, all of the users internet data was funnelled through the company’s servers. Facebook has said ’there was nothing secret’ about the app.
