Security gaps widen as Afghan forces shrink

A report by the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) said Thursday that the strength of the Afghan defense forces has declined to its lowest level in four years. The report puts districts under government control at 53.8 per cent as of October 2018, with the rest of the country controlled or contested by the Taliban.
