Sightings of rare oarfish in Japan raise fears of earthquake and tsunami

Recent sightings of a rare, serpent-like sea creature in Japan has sent social media in the country into a frenzy. As per Japanese folklore, the ’oarfish’ is believed to be a harbinger of natural disasters and purposely rises to the surface and beach whenever they believe trouble’s on the way. Residents reported their presence before the 2011 Fukushima quake. Experts dismissed the concerns.
