NYPD demands that Google’s Waze app stop revealing DWI checkpoints

NYPD has ordered Google to stop its navigation app Waze show drivers where the city’s DWI checkpoints are located. Waze is popular among motorists because it lets drivers alert one another about obstacles, traffic, speed traps and more. Cops said the app often thwarts the law’s ability to catch speeders or drunk drivers.

Checkpoints should be unconstitutional and are just lazy policing. Maybe the NYPD know their officers are not up to the task of patrolling for impaired drivers?

Didn't judges already rule that waze can tell people where cops are? So why are we doing this again? Waze should just ignore it.

around special events in my neck of the woods, I have several pro-drunk driving friends that actively try to help our idiot mutual friends avoid DUIs they rightfully deserve.

good for Waze. the NYPD should be ashamed of themselves for abusing their authority to give citizens excessive fines. don't think for a second that money isn't being funnelled to, and wasted by, NYS's tremendously corrupt government.
