I dunno, maybe they wanted to invade Russia because Russia invaded Finland and took loads of territory.
(Un)Fortunate Son 4 months
Russia originally took a small amount of land at the cost of several million troops. Look up the Winter War and you’ll find that a bunch of angry Finish farmers hiding behind logs and rocks were able to repel the poorly equipped Soviet Union by the sheer power of nationalism and good tactics.

Stalin had also just purged many talented generals from his staff for allegedly being disloyal. What effect that had on the Soviet failures in the winter war is up to anyone to say.

Finland actually did invade and held Petrozavodsk for a short period of time during WWII.

Originally Finland joined the Axis powers to regain its former territories (which they did) and they were reluctant to push too far into Soviet territory. I would have to look at the documentation this historian has to determine whether the Finish Government was truly responsible.

It's been almost 100 fùcking years. Get over it.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would make such terrible accusations on the strength of “ most likely “

Did you watch what the media did with Kavanaugh?

Yeah, and him raping that woman was ‘definitely not’ - he’s still getting labelled a predator

Nothing unique. The same occurred in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Lithuania, etc. Driven by antisemitism or greed. The only difference is some countries admit it while others still deny.

There were no pogroms in Finland. This isn't even what the historian was claming. He's saying Waffen SS might have killed Jews. Waffen SS served in the German military.

There were no Poles in the SS.

The Nazis killed Jews wherever they could. I don’t think the finish government is responsible for something the German government should be paying for.

85% of the bolsheviks in the earliest soviet union were Jews. Some killed millions of people. Genrikh Yagoda alone is responsible for the death of at least 5 million civilians and that was in the 30's. Too bad Finland didn't become a part of that great system.
Avi Khait 4 months
G. Yagoda was a monster, but how does that justify mass murder of innocent Jews, or anyone else for that matter? The Soviet system turned against its own creators more than once. BTW, many minorities joined the Bolsheviks, SRs, etc. because they were persecuted by the tsarist regime.

Hitler turned against only one. Which is better one or many?

I think it is quite possible; even though I have not been able to find any research into the matter, that the concentration of Jews in leadership positions throughout the socialist/communist advocacy communities may have been a very significant point of contention for the non-Jews who formed the National Socialist movement in Germany. The bitterest feuds and rivalry's I have witnessed and heard of have all been between former allies who found themselves fighting with one another for the support of their community. I know there were plenty of instances of Christianity targeting Judaism but the vast majority of the National Socialist thinkers and leaders were atheist or irreligious. It is not surprising that Jews; who were suffering under the social pressures of their religion while also being confronted by historical hostility from Christianity, might decide that embracing ideals that refuted all religion and praised egalitarianism was better than maintaining their status quo as second-class members of society. However the the use of in group versus out of group dynamics that had been the cornerstone of Jewish community life could have seemed like an exclusionary club to non-Jewish supporters of socialist ideals. The fact that ideologies that killed so many Jews in Germany and Russia were both firmly rooted in the thoughts and teachings of Jewish intellectual Karl Marx.

But let's not bring up the genocide of ethnic germans that occurred after WWII. "All the nazis were German, therefore all germans were nazis, therefore genociding germans was good!" Two wrongs making right, with genocides of innocent people...

Makes sense.They has a common enemy,Russia.
(Un)Fortunate Son 4 months
They had the same enemy for VERY different reasons. Context matters.
(Un)Fortunate Son 4 months
I would go as far as to say that Finland was the most justified of the Axis Powers. They didn’t participate in mass genocide. They did not bomb civilian targets (considering every last fighting-capable soviet was probably forced to fight for their home). They only sided with the Nazis as the Nazis had invaded Norway. Having a two-front war is not a wise decision when pinned between Germany and the then Soviet Union.

Justin Kidd 4 months
Waffen SS had little to do with the Finnish government. They were serving in the German military, because that way they could keep fighting against the soviet union.

I don't think the Holocaust was that serious TBH. The red cross said only 275,000 people died in camps, from all causes. There is no evidence of death showers. It is just a story to prevent people calling Jews on their crimes.
