US job openings reached record high in December

US job openings surged to a record high in December, led by vacancies in the construction and accommodation and food services sectors. Job openings increased by 169,000 to a seasonally adjusted 7.3 million in December, the highest reading since the series started in 2000. That lifted the job openings rate to 4.7 per cent from 4.6 per cent in November.

Maybe they're putting too many stipulations on people trying to work these jobs? Or maybe these jobs aren't economically viable? Too many employers want the perfect candidate, but offer some not-so-perfect wages, and basically no benefits.
