Carbon ’surge’ expected in post-Covid energy boom, IEA says

With the world rebounding from the pandemic, the International Energy Agency has predicted a major surge in CO2 emissions from energy this year. The IEA said that total energy emissions for 2021 will still be slightly lower than in 2019. The Agency also said that the consumption of coal in Asia is expected to be the key behind the predicted rise in emissions.
