37 per cent of Americans faced ’severe’ online harassment in 2018

A YouGov study commissioned by the Anti-Defamation League indicates that 37 per cent of Americans dealt with ’severe’ online harassment and hate speech in 2018. About 63 per cent of LBGTQ+ respondents said they’d been targeted. 53 per cent of Americans in the study said they’d experienced at least some kind of harassment. YouGov surveyed 1,134 people.

LMAO... sample size of just over 1,000 people. Not only is "severe" a subjective term, the article doesn't even give the studies definition of harassment. Would calling a black guys stupid or a trans woman ugly be "severe harassment"?

Maybe it's time to go outside if you get offended by people talking shit on the internet.

sounds like another excuse they're using to restrict free speech. this is a slippery slope. also, define "severe". please tell me this isn't just some trannies getting offended by basic biology again.

As lgbt is like 1% of the population, most of the harassment is clearly targeting the majority.

37% you say? More like 5% with 32% that have very thin skins yet don't have the sense to get off of Twitter.

Someone said a mean word to me, and instead of blocking them, defending myself like a normal person, ignoring it or walking away - imma QQ internet harassment and bullying is the weakest softest myth that’s ever been. It doesn’t exist.

The other 63% aren’t snowflakes. Don’t harass people. Definitely don’t report someone for harassment if what they said makes you feel uncomfortable. Only report harassment if it is serious/life threatening.
