Reporters Without Borders says media freedom deteriorated sharply in pandemic

In its annual report, media watchdog Reporters Without Borders said there has been a ’dramatic deterioration’ of media freedom since the Covid pandemic hit the world. The watchdog’s World Press Freedom Index, which evaluated media freedom in 180 countries, said 73% of the world’s nations have serious issues with media freedoms. It says governments have used the pandemic as an excuse to curb media.
