US producer prices drop for second straight month

US producer prices fell for a second straight month in January, leading to the smallest annual increase in 1-1/2 years. The Labor Department said on Thursday its producer price index for final demand dipped 0.1 per cent last month as the cost of energy products and food fell. In the 12 months through January, the PPI rose 2 per cent.
